Workday Rising EMEA 2023 was a fantastic event, and if you couldn’t join us in Barcelona, then you missed a truly spectacular and insightful three days. More than 4000 attendees enjoyed an event full of expertise with over 200 speakers and 175 thought-provoking sessions. Not to mention the excitement of a football challenge, a rowing boat race, and the display of a McLaren Formula 1 car.
As a Gold Sponsor, and a partner of Workday for more than a decade, CloudPay was proud to play a significant role in making Workday Rising EMEA 2023 such a success. If you weren’t able to join us, then this blog summarizes the highlights.
CloudPay leading the integration conversation
It was fascinating to check the pulse of Workday’s progress towards integration between HCM systems and payroll providers such as CloudPay. Workday is making great efforts to make it as easy as possible for customers to work with different payroll providers, so that they can pull everything together into one holistic view. Being part of this, is something we pride ourselves on, thanks to our capabilities to support Workday features, as outlined in the Workday Features Adoption Matrix.
Our Global VP Sales, Walter Derebeew, put it best when he said, “It was great to take part in Workday Rising 2023 and to have the opportunity to talk with so many interesting people about their current payroll challenges and plans for 2024. As a Workday partner for more than 10 years, we were especially excited to be named as one of the top five partners working with the Workday product strategy team on their plans for enhanced integration capabilities between Workday HCM and strategic global payroll partners. This will bring some exciting enhancements to their global payroll platform.”
Away from the show itself, we were delighted that all our visitors were greeted with warm, pleasant weather in Barcelona. What’s more, our cocktail and tapas dinner at Marina Mar was a complete success: delicious food and drinks including amazing paella served by the sea. That was followed by the OneSource Virtual party, joint-sponsored by CloudPay, including light shows, a vodka bar, and sofas by the beach. There was a similarly fun vibe at the Workday customer appreciation party too, with bands, dancing and singing until the early hours of the morning.
Three days of stand-out insights
There was so much to take in from the huge range of experts who were in attendance throughout the week. Naturally, artificial intelligence was one of the biggest talking points, as it was at the Workday Rising US event in San Francisco earlier in the year. AI will remain a key topic for all businesses for the foreseeable future, and partnerships are proving key to delivering the right experiences for each individual organization.
Workday’s Innovation Keynote – “Let’s Shape How the Future Works, Together” – delivered a fascinating insight into how Workday is busy building AI into everything they do. Several of their product and technology leaders talked us through the ”˜art of the possible’ when it comes to AI, including several practical examples of how it can streamline a huge number of standard HR processes. Already, Workday is using generative AI to make HR tasks more efficient, including creating job descriptions and expanding wider knowledge bases.
Looking more closely at payroll were two senior Workday leaders: Maggie Hoang, Senior Product Manager, and Paul Jeyaraj, Senior Director Payroll Product Strategy. They shared some of the new functionalities they’re working on to streamline payroll when working with other payroll providers – and deliver a unified experience to Workday customers. “CloudPay is striving to be at the forefront of embracing the latest integration features being rolled out by Workday, including the new Payroll Hub, the Additional Payroll Data strategy (Local country-specific payroll data), and the Data Change on Demand API strategy. We also congratulate Paul on his new role as Sr Director, Software Alliances and look forward to continued close collaboration with him and his partnership team,” said Lisa Mahlum, CloudPay’s Vice President of Global Alliances.
We also had a great session of our own, with Stuart Gaston, our Solutions Consulting Manager, joined by global payroll leader and independent expert Ricardo Rehkopf. Together, they discussed what ”˜good’ looks like when it comes to payroll and HCM integrations and fielded a range of questions in a lively Q&A that took advantage of their many years of experience. Ricardo also tapped into that experience during his daily Ask the Expert sessions at the CloudPay booth where he gave his insights in a much more intimate setting.
And finally, we have to highlight the ongoing success of the Adopt-a-Monkey scheme that we’ve run from our CloudPay booth at this and other events around the globe. Another 1000 monkeys were picked up in Barcelona and taken back to new homes all over the world.
